How much is your agility costing you?

I refuse to answer because my husband could possibly search this up on google and see the answer and then I'd be dead meat :biggrin2:

I've been doing classes almost every week for 12 years now :eek2:
I've been doing private lessons, well Trax and Maverick have been sharing an hour private session about every other week for a year now. Before that it was regular classes for the rest of the time.

Then add in showing typically 15-20 weekends a year...oh boy!

I currently have 29 weekends planned for 2013 and most of those my daughter will also be competing with Maverick. Good thing we paid our cars off this year! LOL!

Not agility but last year I spent approximately 3600 on race fees, weekend food, class, motorhome or hotel costs to attend races. Still less than my race bike budget and that had a few months off to recover when I crashed (I didn't miss any flyball other than a few classes)

I just calculated shows alone this year and I'm estimating around $5000 in entry fees for my daughter and I :eek2:

You're scaring me!

You're scaring me!
Don't be to scared. That includes a 3 day trip to Indy and I never split a room (an easy way to save) plus I went at least once a month to a tournament. Compared to agility, flyball seems cheap as I can race Sca in two classes (about 10 heats) for about $70 for both days. The rest is motorhome gas and food. Well and some class fees but those are small.

If you really want to be scared check my tire budget for the bikes :eek2: Due to off time I have a surplus this year but I still need tires for the car, the new bike needs race slicks and the road bike will use a set also. The year I bought the motorhome and put tires on it I think I spent about $5K on tires (maybe more) :hide

Ohhhh....soooooooo don't even want to think about it!!! lol....scary...very scary....BUT...WELL worth it!! Don't know where I would be without it (aside from maybe rich! lol).....

But hey--we're rich in blessings that we share with our friends & pups!

How much does agility cost you

I don't even want to say what it cost me to have Shadow go to Germany and compete in the EO.I haven't been trialing much the past year or so but did spend a pretty penny on Shadow who is now retired.Sting will be out alot more this year.

When we started out we were paying $150 dollars for 6 week classes but class sizes were large 12 to 15 dogs and the trainers were not really agility people but conformation and hunting dog specilists,This was one reason that I decided to train Strom Myself for the most part. Now I pay $20 per hour weekly and class sizes are max 4 dogs and usually 2 or 3 much much better and our trainer is a 20 + year agility Person & multi MAtch dog Owner so the quality of instruction is a whole lot better. The Cost has never really been an issue with us it was more the quaility of instruction that we were initially recieving, I would probably pay Sarah twice what she asks and still feel I was getting my moneys worth now.

I'd estimate about $1000-$1200 last year for classes and trials. Classes are $90 for 8 weeks. Last year we did 5 trials (one day each trial). I only rented our training facility about 4 or 5 times last year. It's $10 for an hour. I didn't do any private classes or seminars last year.

This year I plan on doing more trials about 8-14 and half of those running two days. There are 14 outdoor trials from March till November that are within 90 mins from us, so I won't need to stay overnight anywhere. I estimate about $1500-2000 this year because of more trials and running both days (if we get in).

Me and Bailey love agility, but I'm not at the point where I am sacrificing anything to train and compete and I don't see that happening. Trials usually end by 5, so I am still able to go home, nap, freshen up and see my partner, friends and family at night...everyone wins
