How often to bath my pup?

I towel dry too, and then let the...err, victims (good one, Chris!) air dry. I use the term "air dry" loosley since their revenge for the bath is to self-dry on any and every piece of furniture in the house. :eek2: I do use my regular blow dryer on them if it's winter and they won't dry in time for the next potty run.
 
My girl gets a bath about every month and a half or so just because of the area I live in.. She tends to ALWAYS find a way to get filthy when out running in the fields! Also all of her paws and entire chest/neck area are pure white and I'm sure as you all know those are the spots that get the dirtiest when playing! I really have no dry skin issues except with the weather change and the heat in the house being turned on, but as long as you use a high quality shampoo your pups should be ok. I towel dry her as much as I can and then she runs through the house like a crazy lady rubbing up against all of the furnature and carpet trying to get that last bit dry! The fur on her back and rump always curls and sticks straight up in the air after a bath and its the cutest thing.. Its like a doggy mo-hawk! LOL
 
I don't bathe that often. Maybe twice a year. (More if they roll in something stinky, though.) I use Mane and Tail. And waterless shampoo. Self-Rinse Plus is my kind! :yes:

When I was showing every weekend, for about 4 months or so, my boy would get a bath every weekend. Usually only his ruff (and other parts that had hairspray...), but sometimes whole body baths. Never had a problem with dandruff, dry skin or anything else of the like.

I towel dry as much as possible, and then I run-dry them! (As in, they run and dry! :biggrin2:) Not a fan of blow dryers, but I will use them if the weather calls for it (like they have to go NOW and they are still wet and it's snowing!)
 
Romeo gets a bath every 2 weeks unless he's rolled in mud. Blown dry with my hairdryer on a cool setting (heat irritates the skin). In between, he'll get wiped down with a damp towel once a week and spritzed with a leave in conditioner. Once every 2 months he gets sent to the pet stylist for a trim and a nice bath (they use Le Pooch. Smells divine and reeeally lasts) while I go get MY nails done. haha!
 
My girls get a bath every 6 to 8 weeks. I did buy a dogie dryer on ebay for the girls. It's a cool air dryer with a stand, I will have to look it up and tell you the brand. I like it because it's made special for dogs not to dry out their coats or skin. You guys will all laugh. I set up a new bathing system two weeks ago. Crates in basement, patio table as a grooming station - one dog gets brushed out, bathed, back to the basement for a shake and in the crate with the dryer. Next dog! The dogs didn't know what to do! I hate having them shake out in my bathroom so I hurried up and wrapped them in a towel and off to the basement. That worked out better b/c the basement isn't finished yet! No mess! :biggrin2:

I saw this one but when I read the specs it wasn't very much more powerful than my regular hair drier that hasn't been working very well. Sadie's coat is getting so thick that its starting to take forever for it to dry. I'm hoping to find a more powerful one used somewhere for around $100.
 
:lol:I like that "crazy dog hair dryer" Crazy gets a bath appox 5 times a year. We towel dry him as much as possible, then he runs around the house like crazy. I live in a lake community and have been taking multi ticks off poor Crazy, so he seems to get more baths this time of year. Yes we do put frontline on him every month. Tikcs are very bad this year for us.

You are right that it's not very powerful, it's what I could afford at the time and it's cool not hot, that's why I like it. It does take a while, like I said, I know I need to get at least one more! I think I liked it too because it has a stand and I don't have to sit there and hold it like the hair dryer. I can put them in there crates and turn it on them and go and do other things. Always multi-tasking!! :biggrin2:

The stand is a definite plus but you can get people blow driers that have different heat settings. Mine will blow hot or warm air, has a low and high fan speed and also has a cold air button on it. If you can deal without the stand its probably cheaper than a similar dog blow drier
