Howdy from Florida

Hello there! I'm Katie from Florida. Don't have a Sheltie of my own but co-habitate with my mom's Sheltie, Texas. He's a great dog and has a great personality. He turns 3 in January! :) Thinking of possibly getting a sheltie of my own someday. Still doing breed research; we'll see.

I am interested in the possibility of Agility. It looks like the dogs have a blast and I'd love to be active with my dog like that (in the future).

welcome from south louisiana to sheltie nation. we just found it this december
and has been a great site. it will not take long for you to adopt Texas or get him a pal of his own.....:) the faulks

Hi from Florida too! New to the forums, but have been watcing the blog for some time now.

I have Keegan, a barky little guy.

Welcome to the forum. Texas is beautiful!!!

We, of course, love to make sure we push you towards Shelties, but just curious, what other breeds are you thinking of?

As an agility addict, is agility something you can get started with Texas? I know you said he's your mom's dog, but honestly, a LOT of the training is for us. Yes, the humans/handlers. I started my dog in it to burn off some of his energy. I'm now a total addict. If your mom said yes to traning Texas (not sure of his age), by the time you get your own pup, you'll have a lot of understanding behind what you're learning. We all think we'll be better handlers with our "second" dog, because we make so many mistakes with our "first" agility dogs, lol.

Again, welcome and enjoy the forums.

Welcome Floridians! Florida is a splendid Sheltie State!!

It's been a while since I stopped in here. I'm also looking at breeds from Italian Greyhounds to Akitas. But I keep coming back to Shelties. They seem to be pretty easy keepers. And Texas is really good about letting us know when someone is at the door or there are suspicious noises (something I look for in a future dog). I also adore his fluffiness. I'll have to see if I can get into agility sometime. I have a pretty busy schedule but it is still something I would like to try. I'll have to convince my mom to let me 'borrow' the dog.
