Huge Sheltie...

My first sheltie was a tall girl at 17-18 inches and weighed around 30-35 lbs. I love tall shelties! My current sheltie, Missy, is a little over 15 inches, and I kinda wish she was bigger... oh well!

Both your dogs are gorgeous!

Such a loaded question!

The correct reponse is that shelties should be 14"-16". Yadda, yadda

And then there is reality....

My Bacca is about 18" and big boned and long in body as well. He does not look typical Sheltie, but neither is he Collie. I think he's just a big Sheltie.

My Indy is about 17" but small boned, so he looks more to type, I think

Both weigh in at about 30 lbs however.

Then I see the fine boned versions coming into my store that probably weight no more than 15-18 lbs. These ones are probably more of the European type.

So what is Sheltie type anymore?

What a cute little pip squeak!!! He's a handsome dog now!
When I went to get Justus at 13 weeks, he was almost bigger than his mom.

Big or small, I love them all. :smile2:

Sandstorm is 18 in and at the last vet visit weighed 29 lbs- the vet said that was a perfect weight but should not weigh any less than that. I think now he weighs 30 lbs.

As I recall, Colonel Underpants is 19 inches and weighs in at about 35 pounds. He's not fat -- but he is a big boy for sure!
