My 22 month old female will hump when she gets too over the top playing, usually at the height of her evening zoomies. She did this before she was spayed (at 14 months) and still does it occasionally now. The only thing she humps is me (lucky me).
It's dominance. She lived on a dog farm for the first 101/2 months of her life. She seems to think I'm a Sheltie too.
