I can't manage with so much fur

The best way for dealing with the sheltie coat is regular bath and blow dry. I used to be against too often bathing of dogs because I was concerned about skin irritation. But using the right products and tools, there is nothing like a bath and high velocity dryer to blow out that coat.

So, either invest in a high velocity dryer yourself or prepare yourself for 6 week visits to a groomer If it is any consolation, I share your pain. This is my Callan at 19 months old......He is now 34 months old. And his fur is still exploding.

Please I need advice, I need help....my shelties are the best thing I have, but I can hardly manage with their fur! even with a dotzen of combs!

They are now one year old and I think they are shedding since months ago, I don't know if it is the way it works for ever or if it's only because this is the first year for them and they have been changing the puppy fur into the adult and now they have started shedding...but it's unending!

I had a chow so I'm quite used to the shedding periods and to clean the house, clothes and every thing dialy....but with this little guys I do it since months ago...maybe since the first day

I bought a Dyson super-handly-vacuum, the best staff you can buy with two shelties at home. I clean the sofas, the bed (they are allowed to sleep with us) forniture, floor and every thing...but in hours I will start again.

I comb them twice a week to help the house to be cleaned, but I spent so much time in combing, cleaning, walking, and ALL with them, that I have the conclusion that shelties are for people unemployed or something similar. I work outside, have two children, well...three with my husband, so sometimes I'm upset!

The female is combed in only half an hour, but the male is show quality...so he needs a lot of time to be completely combed.

I suposse the warm weather in Spain doesn't help to fix the shedding periods in a short period of time...

My parents have both male and female. They live at the first floor with hard wooden floor without big carpets (except their own) and they don`t go upstairs anytime. So to clean kitchen, corridor and living room is quite easy with powerful vacuum for pet hair and a bit of water.

My Sheltie is nothing compared to my white Persian cat. I have never seen an animal produce so much fur! So fine and it gets everywhere. That said, we keep pet mitts all over the house and they are terrific for removing fur from clothes and furniture that you otherwise cannot get at. Highly recommend them to anyone who wants to combat fur.

I gotta agree with Barb, a blower is the best thing to manage the fur. I took Piper to the pet store to bathe him and blow him out (self serve) and his coat is so incredibly soft and mat free. I'm going to take him every 6 weeks until I get a blower. Best thing about it is there's no clean up there lol.
