I have new videos posted

Hunter's Mom

Forums Regular
Finally, after many months of waiting to get the memory card these files were saved on!
I'm pretty sure I posted about our Fun Match results from these shows, here is the 'visual' demonstration

We will probably be entering our first sanctioned trial in April, wish us luck!
Any advice you seasoned handlers have to share is very welcome!
I just ordered Barbara Handlers : Guide to successful obedience handling, I'm looking forward to reading that!

These are from the Fun Matches Hunter and I participated in back in Sept./Oct. plus the video of the Obedience Demo we did with our club (BOTC) at the MN State Fair last August.
These are our fun matches, in order:

And the obedience demonstration at the state fair:

Please feel free to comment and/or rate if you like.

(PS. sorry if posting vids is a no-no, I couldn't find any rules that said it was ok or not)

Hello I haven't been on this forum for a long time and your post was the first one I read. Don't you feel special? I watched your vidios and looks like you did good , mind you I am not an obediences person so I have no right to cretique. I've heard that the stand stay for the examiner is a tuff one for shelties but you look like you handled that just fine. I think my boys could do that. I like the vidio of you dog at the fair, Hunter looks like he was thinking " Mom I'm tired why can't I just relax ". Thanks for the peek at your vidio's

Looks pretty good!

I think you probably know where your weaknesses are, work on a stand without having to touch him and play with his feet, heel focus, etc. The only other comment I have is to loosen up your lead. When he is heeling, he is nice and tight to you. But even though he is so close, you are causing tight leashes by holding the leash so taut. Drop it a bit so there is a more noticeable "J" between you and him. Also, picking up your pace a bit may help with the heel focus. I call it the "gotta pee" walk, if you walk very briskly, then the dog pays more attention to where you are going.

Keep up the good work.

Hunter is a beautiful sheltie. You looked like you did well at the trials. Thanks so much for the videos!!! I'd like to get into obedience myself, once I get another sheltie.

Wonderful

:smile2:Thanks for sharing!!!! Looks like you and Hunter had a fun time. I really think you guys did GREAT and you work well as a team. Keep up the great work! :wink2:

Thank you for posting your videos. Hunter is a beautiful dog and you two have a nice teamwork going there! The love and respect bond is obvious between you and your Hunter. You're both learning how to compete and you'll only improve! I wish I had the time and patience to do agility and obedience training with a few of my shelties, it is so helpful in building the bond between human and dog.

Ditto! You sure can see the bond between you two. Thanks for sharing your videos.
