I knew it: Lyme

Hope Riley is better! We are supposedly free from Lyme though my vet apparently diagnosed one recently. Juliet had a tick bite that left a bull's eye but thankfully came back negative when we tested for Lyme. Scary stuff! Wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't be combing for ticks. Wouldn't have known if I hadn't read this forum!!

Take care Riley!

Riley is buzzing around like the crazy sheltie teen that he is!! He will occasionally limp a little (VERY slightly) is he is running around too much, but try telling him that he is doing too much!!

The bloodwork came back with a positive for Lyme and lymphocytosis, which is elevated white blood cell count.....of course it would be elevated....he's fighting an infection, right? And he apparently has some crystals in his urine, but that could be a handling thing (I'm the one who got the sample)?? Who knows....he's definitely better and went to agility on Sat, so he was good.

I am glad to hear that he is feeling better. I spent about 10 months battling lyme with Chloe. It kept coming back. The fact that he still favors that leg once in awhile tells me that you need to stay on the antibiotic for awhile. If he limps at all after you are finished you need to put him right back on the antibiotic. Chloe ended up having her front leg muscle atrophy from the Lyme.

Here are my lyme threads and all the treatments that went along with trying to get her better:

He's only been on doxy for 6 days so far and is much better than he was before. The slight limp I only noticed after him running around the dog park like a nut for 45 minutes. Other than that he's been great! He did not limp after agility class or after daycare (they know he has Lyme and were keeping an extra special eye on him for us...it helps that they all want to keep him too).
