I love my new MADAN brush! !!!!

What is the MM length of the pins on these brushes?

As Calliesmom witnessed,Trapp would benefit from a longer pin. Both Dr.Shelli,& Denise worked with Trapp for me,in thinning out his massive coat in the pants area. I have since had him back up on table and have thinned even more,so we are getting there. Thank you both!

His current pin brush needs replacing, and it is an All systems 27mm.
do they come in 32MM,or just 27mm.

I am going to try one of these again. And what color is the firm? Anywhere I see them (Amazon,NeedsNDesires) they really do not describe it well enough for a person to know what the length of pin is.

I can try and measure when I get home- but you've seen my pups- we don't need long pins. Callie has the longest fur but it's not super thick, Cran and Dix are still growing out coat but nothing like the Trapp.

I so could not believe what a puffball he turned into- so much fur:winkgrin:

Hi Michelle,
The pins on the Madan firm black and red brush are shorter than the All systems-I had the 27mm like you. But it doesn't matter (for me) because this brush grips the fur so well and gets that undercoat out with better efficiency. It seems that the Madan brushes all have the same pin length- not entirely sure though.

He sure did! The look on your face was priceless when you saw him, since last year. Was like..WTH happened???

Do you think I could use a Madan on him,or should I just go with a 32mm for him using a new all systems? I looked today, nearly ordered one,but held off. I would hate to send another Madan back. I had one in his early puppy year, did not like it then. And sent it back.

But you would be proud to see those pants today though!! Man oh man,did I ever thin some more, and he is looking much, much better. Now if only that undercoat would come out. DANG!

I love my 35mm brush. I use it pretty much exclusively these days. Partly because of the thin oblong shape. It acts almost like a wide-tooth comb.

These are my basic tools these days.

- rake (need to upgrade this one)
- Lawrence Slicker brush
- 35 mm pin brush

Sometimes I'll pull out my more standard 22 mm brush, but I just find that it doesn't do the job as easily.

I'll pull out the comb sometimes if I'm dealing with mats.

I'm guessing since you didn't really like the Madan the first time around that you probably won't like it now either.

If you liked the All Systems, then you should get another but there have been some other brands recommended that you might want to look into....

I think they one think that is worthwhile investing on is a decent pin brush.

Unfortunately, finding one that works for your technique and your dogs specific coat is abit of trial and error.

Most pet stores carry fairly "ok" brushes for the occasional groomer. But it you really wanted to take over the grooming yourself, with only occasional visits to the groomer, then investing in a higher end brush is a must. I think otherwise, you will feel frustrated.

I've long been a fan of CC pin brushes. I really do recommend them. they seem to have jsut about the right amount of flex, thought I've never tried madan or all systems so I can't really compare.

Dr. Shelli probably came to the one reason as to why his coat is so huge, and its because (1) our house in summer is very cool. much cooler than probably most homes. Or at least if Brian has been near the thermostat...is usually on 72 for a/c in summer.

In winter, well it gets typical cooler SC temps...but we did not only one time have heat in fireplace all winter. And only used electric heat in each end of the house this winter.

She compared my dogs to hers, and she said her home is very warm, thus less pouf on her dogs. Plus the humidity here is a monster. On Saturday she got to looking at her dogs, and they were beginning to pouf out like my dogs. So humidity does play a factor.

So back on topic..I am going to stay with All Systems, since I do like the product. I will stay with what I know. I don't want to be messing with returns again on a brush.
