I need an opinion or few.

I'm back. At the end of last month, our daughter passed away and our son, Snicker as a problem of not wandering to far from the patio door to do his duties most of the time. Does anyone have an idea to encourage him to go further? Or should we let time/distractions take it's course?

I am so very sorry to hear about your loss.

I think for now....maybe let time take it's course. If this is a new behavior, it may be just because of all that is going on in your life.

Maybe to encourage him to go farther away from the house, go with him a few times and call him away from the house. When he goes out there, then give lots of praise so he knows where to go.

I am thinking of you.

I'm so very sorry about your loss as well. I suspect Snicker doesn't want to "abandon" you, so walking with him for a while -- and making after-duty a play time might help, too.

I think Chris and Dani are both right. Snicker is probably feeling out of sorts. I would go with him and make it as fun as possible. Let him know you are with him.

I too am sorry for your loss.

I am sorry about you loss. Maybe coax Snickers out with some yummy treats would help him. He feels a bit lost right now.

Re: I need an opinion or few

Thank you all for the great ideas and sympathy. I have tried to coax him out further, but he stays on the steps. I hope the alley becomes active now, since schools have been let out for the summer. I will let time take it's course and hope for the best.
