I saw my first Blue Merle today!! Gorgeous, and I want one

Here, Blue Merle has been "in fashion" for several years
- I actually think more than 15 years and they are still

I am never going to get a Blue Merle
on me they seem completely wrong, too unsymmetrical

I think they are more fun than beautiful :o1

Thankfully we are all different and there is a beautiful Sheltie to all of us
I am a little fascinated by a Mahogany or Bi Black Sheltie

But Minnie is, however, the most beautiful both outside and inside :hugs

Angus says yep now pet the belly!

Oh and 'only breeds blue merles'? Other might correct me but a blue merle is a merle tricolor. There is no way you can get a little of only blues other than luck as far as I know. For instance you breed a merle (any type) and a tricolor and you will get a mix of some blues, some tricolors and whatever else depending on the merle I think. If they are breeding two blue merles run as that is a high risk (for the dogs) and I personally would NEVER support it.

Of course the gentleman could also mean the focus on AOC dogs and merles which is much different.

I totally get it--I used to feel that way too! I never wanted anything other than a sable, and definitely not a merle because their coloring was weird. Now I have two blues and I'm heading more and more in that direction!

Elijah's mom was the most gorgeous soft "powder blue" (my phrasing) color, no big black markings, mostly just a silvery blue especially her face. I don't have a photo of her sadly. I would take one like that in a heartbeat. Meadow's mom is a more standard blue but I thought she was beautiful also, and so very sweet. Originally I only really was fond of the sables, but now that I've had a mix of colors I find I love the blacks and blues as well. Brooke was just a stunning bi-black beauty.

Cooper says he knows he is all that and a bag of chips...but at the end of the day they all bark, play, eat and poop!! lol. Like Sandy we felt Cooper picked us and all we wanted was a healthy and happy pup. We had a choice of two Merle and two Tri. Even now we have the odd person ask if he is an Aussie mainly I guess you don’t see many Merles in the area, but he does get lots of compliments on his colors and markings. To us he is just our boy.

Destin got Aussie a bunch too- when we were in various pet stores....
I'm like how do you get Aussie from a biblue sheltie- how many merle Aussies are there that that's the first thing people think? most of the Aussies that I know are solids- there are a few merles around but probably more merle shelties in the local performance areas.

Quite the opposite here! Almost all the Aussies I know are blue merles, they are extremely popular. I know one red one down the street and there are two tri's in the hood, but solid majority are blues. And Aussies in general are VERY popular here.

14 years ago when I wanted to get my first sheltie, I was determined to get a small sable. I wasn't enamored with the look of blue merles, but I ended up with an oversized blue merle who turned out to be a wonderful, beautiful dog (my Cody). When I decided to get him a companion for while I was at work, I ended up with a blue merle pomeranian (my Trixi). She actually looks like a tiny blue merle sheltie. A couple of years ago I decided to add another sheltie to my pack and wanted my sable - I ended up with a tiny cryptic merle (looks tri with blue marbled eyes and light shading on hips)(my Jesse). Someday I will get my sable!
