I think I need to switch foods....

What are your thoughts Barb, I'm curious to know? :smile2:

Well, I can easily get the TOTW at Petsmart....they carry TOTW, NOW, GO! and a whole rack of others as well.

I'm thinking about switching from Now! to Go! Same manufacturer so maybe less of a transition. But I'm still thinking about TOTW but it looks like I can only feed Pacific Stream....the others may be too hight in Protein.

Honestly, I don't know at this point, but I'm thinking about mixing kibble indefinitely. They like the taste of Now! but perhaps if I mixed it with something else, their poops would "calibrate"

Great feedback from the forum, guys! Thanks so much!

Wow! Your Petsmart carries TOTW, Now and GO!? Lucky you!

Also, the TOTW Pacific Stream AND Sierra Mountain formulas both have the same protein level: 25%

Ooops, I said PetSmart....I meant Pet Value....that's only meaningful to Canadian folk!

The lamb TOTW has 25% protein as well.

Mixing it up is a good idea. I find my dogs do best when I do it this way.

That's where I shop - it's right near my No Frills store. I haven't seen the Sierra blend yet.

Ronna,
You may not see the sierra formula there. I know our Tractor store did not carry it either. So I called TOTW,to inquire why. They checked to see if the sotre had registered themselves to be put in thier data base. And ours had not.

So when I went in to TS one day,I gave the 800 number to manager.I asked him to call TOTW to register thier store in thier database.Even though they carried TOTW,no new product would be placed in thier store, and customer inquiries would go unnoticed.

They needed them registered,so when people were looking for store locations, they would know where to send reps to get a new product in there.
And thier ordering sheets would be brought up to date with all new products.

Thanx for the info. I know the store I usually go to only had the buffalo and fowl blends. On Friday, I got the salmon blend. The other pet store carried these three blends. Because we are a small town (18,000) and the economy has affected the store, they may not be able to financially carry all the blends. I will certainly check the TOTW website to see what I can find out. The store owner of the first store is opening up another store in the area as her husband is losing his job at a big company and she may be willing to carry the other blend.

I'm sure the stores in the town where OntarioSheltie lives would probably carry more of the blends but that is a good 30-45 minute drive for me and right now I can't do the drive.

Thanx again

Just checked the website - all the pet stores in my town are registered as are the ones close to where I work.

Barb,

Unfortunately, there aren't a whole lot of low protein grain-free foods. Trust me, when I wanted to go lower protein/grain free I looked at everything.

What I learned was that the fish ones were typically the lowest in protein. TOTW Sierra Mountain was the lowest non-fish one. Nutrisca @ 30% was the second lowest. Nothing else was below 30%.

And yes, dog food analysis bases it's ratings on the protein content levels and type of protein.

Check your PM's. I sent you a message.
