That's hilarious!
Wish 'leave it' would work with Della, but she has resource guarding issues and doesn't understand, or acknowledge maybe, my leave its. I've let Tully out the front to poo a couple of times a day, so that at least reduces some of the poo in the backyard that Della can eat. Just wish Tully would stop walking over to the neighbour's or near the road.
God I so hope Kismet doesn't pick this up! Kismet did eat poo for maybe a week and I'm sure she was copying Della. But she stopped, thank god. Although she will get the cat poop if she can and I know she picked that up from Della. It's so sad. Della loves the pup so much but I'll have to reduce their time together because all Kismet's bad habits are being picked up from Della. Like barking at the fence, barking at other dogs, licking the kitchen floor, kitty cakes, chasing off the birds (she used to love sitting with the birds). The list goes on.
As for wildlife poop, well that's a whole other thing! Tully will nibble on rabbit poop sometimes (but only fresh). Deska had a thing for swan poop - thankfully not many of them around. But Kangaroo poo, let me tell you it's like candy to dogs. Don't know a single dog that doesn't eat it, which is weird because they just eat grass and leaves. Lucky mine only ate it fresh and had a good 'leave it'. And after being kissed by a friend's dog with a mouthful of the stuff, I think it tastes awful! A gundog person told me dogs eat the poop of their prey for the scent. Not sure if that's true but it sounded logical.
