ID Tags

I know when I chat with them, we discussed never to put their call name on the ID for safety sake. My name address and phone number is all you find.
The worst part about putting a collar on a sheltie, you can't see the collar.

You would think since this is my third Sheltie that I would KNOW you can't see the collar. No, mine has a crystal encrusted collar. Black velvet with her little diamonds. It's her birthstone. And it's really pretty when it's on the counter.:rolleyes2:

And I'm glad to see I'm not totally paranoid about my dog. I also just put my name on the tags.

I put my dog's registration numbers on their tags as well as my phone number. Deska chewed through a couple of rego tags as a pup and when I brought my third one I mentioned what a nuisance it was and was told they only have to carry their rego number, it does not have to be the govt issued tag.

I was thinking of switching from the metal id tags to material tags sewn on to the collar - like you get for kid's school uniforms. The metal ones jingle and get in the way of Tully sneaking up on bunnies, plus I worry she will catch it on something when she is running in the bush.

Time to get ID tags for my pups. This has been bugging me for a long time.

Can anyone suggest the best material (e.g. stainless steel, bronze, whatever) to not discolour pups fur? And specific website that you recommend.

I found this bling site listed below, but I just don't know what to buy

And what information do you put on the tag? I thought about putting my vet's phone number, rather than my personal number, particularly since I might be moving in the next 6-8 months (and therefore my home number may change?). Or my cell phone?

I don't know what to tell you about material. Phebe's doesn't discolor her fur, but I wasn't paying any attention when I bought it at Petco. I just put her name, my name and my cell number. She's also microchipped and has a yellow tag with her chip number and a phone number for the locating service.

I need to put her tags back on her collar. I messed up at agility yesterday and accidently clipped the leash to the tag ring. Of course, she got overexcited while one of her friends was running the course and lunged and broke the ring. Our agility class is a bit wild at times.

I put Bailey's name, my street and my cell phone #.

I chose my cell because if she's lost, I'd probably be out looking for her and would want to know if someone found her right away.

Bailey has stainless steel, but she doesn't wear it all the time, so I don't know if it stains the fur or not. The next tag I buy is going to be plastic.

Both my dogs name and my phone number is on their tags and it says reward also. Both aare riveted to the collar.

Trapp's is stainless from AKC, plus he wears a St. Francis medal that is gold.
The St. Francis one has name, phone,City & State. Earnhardt & Bumper have one also.

AKC has his ID #,CAR registration # for lost dog,our phone #(Cell)
As if he were ever to be lost,I put cell numbers,as I would be out looking, and at least I would have my cell on me at all times.

I prefer stainless, that way I know he can't chew it. I did give it a coat of clear nail polish,as I did'nt want it to discolor his ruff. And I have had no problems with discoloring.

He'll be chipped when he goes in for the big snip,snip!:eek2:

Ours have the ones we got at PetSmart...except for Annie Laurie, who has a silver one from the jeweler, who combined it with her Cumbersome Diamond. That man is smitten!!!:rolleyes2:
