Ruffles has been struggling for a few months ever since her atypical Cushings diagnosis, then the mast cell tumor surgery and her heart issues. The meds prescribed by the cardiologist have helped her heart issue slightly, but she just hasn't seemed well. Her fur hasn't grown back on her hind end from the surgery and her back hocks are also bare. The rest of her coat is very thin. Based on what chiropractic adjustments have done for my others, I thought I'd take her in to see if that would make her more comfortable. My holistic vet, who is also a mainstream vet, suggested we try some acupuncture, which can treat all her symptoms from the heart to the coat and mobility. I'd used it years ago on Pixie but with limited results, but I agreed.
The results have been nothing short of amazing. She had her second treatment yesterday. After her first treatment, she immediately perked up and became more mobile. Yesterday, my vet found her heart rate is significantly up, which is great news! It had been so slow that she was fainting a few months ago. Yesterday it was actually normal. And her skin looks better! We can see some traces of maybe new hair growth.
She'll have a total of four treatments and then we'll reevaluate. It's not inexpensive, but she also gets a chiro adjustment at the same time from my fabulous vet. It's not something that ever would have occurred to me to try, but the results are incredible. Ruffles and I are both happy!
