I'm getting a puppyyyyyyyyy!

Bonnie turns 12 weeks old tomorrow! Doesn't time fly ... We picked her up 3 weeks ago today :smile2:

On Wednesday she went to her first preschool class. There were a total of 8 dogs although one was absent with diarrhea :/ There were 2 little cavoodle siblings, 2 kelpie siblings, 2 border collies (unrelated) and a beagle cross (can't remember with what :/). My only disappointment with the class was that for a short time the trainer let all the pups off their leads to see how they would interact. Which did not go so great. The border collie and the beagle were way too hyper for all the other pups. However after a minute the trainer realised this so those 2 got to play by themselves. Then when they got leashed again all the others got a turn which was much better!

Then on Friday Bonnie got her 2nd shot which she was a very brave girl for and only whimpered for a second. Then she got treats, lol. However she was a little off for the rest of the day so I'm pretty sure they made her a touch crook. But it is now Saturday morning here and she is back to her usual self!

Her weight was 2.17kg (4 pounds and 12.5 ounces) and approximately 22cm high (8.7 inches). Which apparently puts her undersized in both.

Sounds like it is getting better with little Bonnie. We all have our "what have I done?" moments and then they win you over all over again with something very cute.

Enjoy class and the dog she is becoming!

My brushes came, my brushes came! I ordered 2 CC brushes and their detangler/conditioner Ice on Ice and they got here today. I was excited, Bonnie however was not. The delivery guy just dropped them off and left and poor Bonnie wanted a pat  and then she was too excited to let me brush her with my brand new brushes

Welcome Cousin Bonnie! I've been off line for a bit so missed her home coming. One of those photos - with the crooked mouth - Deska does that exact same look, must be in the genes! You'll have to PM me who Bonnie's great, great grandparents are - see if we have a connection.

Next time you buy more grooming products I really recommend the Plush Puppy range. Absolutely fantastic, show quality and Australian made. The owners are great too with any advice you need. I brought the Ice on Ice and I have to say, pales in comparison to the Plush Puppy Seabreeze Oil. It's all concentrate too so lasts years.

From a previous discussion, you mentioned about puppy books. I really dislike the techniques the Monks use. So if you are still looking for books on raising puppies, a couple of I recommend to my classes (and you can get them for free) are

  • Sarah Hodgson's Puppies for Dummies. She is a great positive trainer and you can usually borrow a copy from you local library. If your library has Overdrive (ebook borrowing) there is another book of hers called Puppy Perfect you can borrow.
  • Dr Ian Dunbar's free ebook After you get your puppy http://www.dogstardaily.com/free-downloads. Dr Dunbar is a world renowned behavioural expert.
Have fun with Bonnie.
