Inappropriate Ads On SF

I just thought of something. If you're opted out for the custom ads based on surfing habits, then it makes total sense why something like that would show up. It's totally just random. It doesn't know you, doesn't care what you want, so voila. Case solved. Now, if Kelly can ban those types of ads, great. If she can't and has no control over what you see, then you'll see everything and anything, including the one you got.

Did that make sense?

That's probably it!

I was just googling a recipe and now all the ads I see are food related. Because she declined ads based on surfing habits, they're going to be random.

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure Kelly cannot ban the display of particular ads.

Thank you everyone for the IT support! :biggrin2:

I can tell google to block specific advertisers. I do that for specific puppy mill sites. (So if you see a new one, please let me know!) Every advertiser I block reduces potential income which helps support the site.

I suspect there are vistors to this forum who are single and looking to date, so the ad is appropriate for them.

just a side note on browsers- I ignore all the ads anyway- sometimes they are related like Corgi tshirts with the discussion of what breed to get thread.

Typically I use Firefox and on the new decal thread, I saw where someone said they ordered the new decal- I had looked in the SN store and only saw the old decal. then I got on using Chrome and there was a button in Kelly's original post to order- that did not show up correctly in Firefox.:rolleyes2:

now I know that I can order the decal when I get home.......

But hopefully not useful for you married folks

The ads I've been seeing are a bit racy in the pictures. Advertising skimpy dressed big boob Asian girls isn't something that should be on a site that should be family friendly unless we are all of a sudden catering to the porn viewing types who are looking for quick easy hookups. The ads I have seen aren't the tamer match dating site type ads :/ I take it you haven't seen these.

This site has no control over the ads that Google presents to you. I see animal related ads, and Tide ads, and Walden University ads. What you see is not what others see. So it doesn't matter what pops up or how inappropriate it is. Take it up with Google. Or install an ad-blocker. Adblock Plus is a good one.

Also, sign out of your gmail account before browse. If you check your gmail through the web interface, then go off and browse, you are still "signed into" Google, and it's collecting information associated with your gmail account.

I just typed in www.adblock.com
AND I got this big red box...that said "whoa are you sure you want to visit this site"...So I backed out.

Yes its individual to what ever you have searched for in the past...or what ever topic is being discussed on the forums. Usually my ads are cars (I would love a new one) or dog stuff or Jewelry.

Michele as far as the ad blocker you need to research an ad blocker that would work with your browser, just typing it in is not a smart idea its what hackers use for keywords, and I have to agree with the others, dump IE, its HORRIBLE!

Unfortunately ad blockers aren't something I can get for an iPad browser. I don't do gmail either.
I brought it up as the site can be prevented from showing this advertiser and don't feel that it should be something advertised on this site.
