Two years have gone today since the passing of my first Aussie, it was followed shortly by the passing of his brother not two months later. This time of year is always bittersweet and filled with memories of those two and this year has been just as tough as the rest going through it this time alone. I loved both my dogs...but Indi had a very special bond that was mine alone...while the other aussie was more closely bonded with my ex-fiance.
I just wanted to show a picture of him here...and say a couple of words in his tribute, I understand he isn't a shetland sheepdog, but I believe the community here can understand that type of loss regardless of breed.
My Fuzzbucket,
What I remember most this time of years is the way that you enjoyed "guiding" me to comfort. I hope that when I made that decision you knew that I was guiding you to comfort. You always held my hand and although many said to teach you not to...for me it was a comfort as well. The gentle guiding of your tugging guiding me to the sofa so that I might scratch your ears until you fall asleep on my lap.
Indi is a name held so close to my heart now that still two years later I can hear your bark. I can feel the push of your paws when i walked in from work.
I miss the danger of bending down the most. I miss wondering if you'll run from another room as if you had some six sense and leap upon my back in a stall that I had taught you from puppy-hood.
Many things about you are engraved in my heart...You came into this world teething and nipping...as a teenager you would tug me to the door, tug me to the couch, and as you left you held my arm so gently with those non-tugging teeth as I scratched your ears as you fell asleep.
