Is clicker training for every dog?

I think you would be fine using the clicker to train tricks. My Athena is like Lexi. Even before clicker training, she would go through her whole arsenal of commands if a treat were brought out. Even now, she still does it every now and again. However, the longer she has been doing the commands she knows, and the older she has gotten, it has gotten to where on a command she already knows well, she won't do that.
She knows what the clicker means, and will offer a lot of behaviors to try to figure out what I want. It makes for training just about any behavior super easy with her, as she truly understands offering and the clicker, and will get to the solution fairly quickly.
As a dog that already wanted to offer a lot, it didn't make her any better or worse to start clicker training. It's just made it easier to train behaviors.

Interesting question. I've been to an instructors training course lately and the first day of instructors told us we should use clickers, then the second day of instructors said it didnt matter. The first instructors were younger and preferred to train the begiiners and puppies while the second instructors had been around for years and were trialling judges.

I did teach mine the clicker, but I am too uncoordinated to use one. Mine will also offer behaviours readily anyway. Its probably a good idea to teach to beginners no matter if they continue, but I am interested to see how much a difference clickers can be in training.
