Vets have terrible loans from vet school, make less money than human doctors, mostly have to work for large practises with questionable ethics, and have the worst suicide rates of any profession. A friend's wife is a vet; she has a small base salary and a larger bonus on a commission type basis depending on procedures done and tests performed. for So yes, there is a net loss of vets even with new ones graduating as people leave often. I have 2 vets I have used in the past (pre-covid) so they will see my new puppy. but so many places where I live are no new clients (owners). I think the wait for my well puppy visit was over 3 weeks.
