Is it time to tape?

I came home from work on Monday and Cooper's Left Ear was standing straight up. Since then, we have glued that ear down three times! I've been using eyelash glue. Is it time to try tape? Or is there a better glue?

And I know tape exists, but I didn't know what it's called and couldn't find it on Amazon.

If you decide to tape, the "bar none" is the Japanese brand Yutokuban. You can purchase it online here. It is a little pricey, but many breeders love it, and one roll will last you a while.

There are a couple of tricks with this tape. Make sure that the insides of the ears are very, very clean first: wipe them out with rubbing alcohol, then wipe them dry. You will also want a good adhesive remover for when you take the tapes out, and remember to never pull the tape from the top of the ear down (you'll fillet the ear); always work from the bottom up. (Although it sounds like you will just be doing rolls, not a full brace, which means you will not be working with as heavy-duty a set).

I used glue for Kaleigh and finished with chewing gum, and only chewing gum on Savannah, and though I am not showing my woofs. I think their ears turned out cute. Savannah has very fine ear leather, she probably should have been braced and taped. Don't wait if you have a prick type ear, get on it or it might resist being tipped

If you're going to glue, I found eyelash glue doesn't hold at all. Neither does hair extension glue which some people have good luck with but I haven't.

The best glue for doing ears is Tear Mender. It sets quickly and holds better than anything else. I used to use Zoeze to remove it until I found that hair extension remover takes it out much easier and faster without any hair loss! The downside is that it's very oily so be ready to wash the dog's ears gently with Dawn dishwashing liquid.

You can get Tear Mender in many drugstores but also online at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Tear-Mender-6-...ds=tear+mender Or www.wicketsbymel.com.
