Is there a rescue group in Spokane area?

I'm so sorry, Julie, that it's not working out. You gave it a fighting try. You should not feel guilty about this choice.

I think you can now trust to the rescue, but do follow up to make sure their contracts require that if a pup does not work out, then it goes back to the rescue. It will truly put your mind at ease.

Take care!

Thanks for the encouragement. I definitely will follow up - Buddy doesn't deserve to end up abandoned. He is an innocent victim of careless breeding. He will, at least, not cost anyone anything - he's registered with the AKC, microchipped, neutered, and up-to-date on all his shots. That should be a big help to someone (I hope!).

Julie we are so sad for you both. After reading the recent happinings with Buddy, and your grandchild. Things will work out for this little sheltie, and I feel sure that rescue folks will work with him,and place him in a good home.

Brian and I were just wondering today about how things were going, and now to read this.
Hugs to you both~

Last Night with Buddy

Tonight is our last night with our dear little Buddy. He is sleeping peacefully in his crate because he's just a little dog and has no idea that he's going away tomorrow. Our wonderful breeder/rescue friends have found a foster home for him where he's going to belong to a little dog pack. The foster mom is going to work with his fear and shyness before he is placed for adoption. There will be an adoption contract and Buddy must be returned to the rescue group if he doesn't work out. They also said they will keep us informed as to his progress.

He is so sweet tonight - all curled up and feeling safe. I know in my head we are doing the right thing. My heart feels quite different.

Thanks for reading this and loving Shelties and helping one another.

I can't even imagine how difficult this must be. Try to keep in mind you tried your best and made a good decision for all of you. This has got to be better than all of you being unhappy. Please keep us informed when you get updates on his progress. I'll be very interested to hear how he's doing and I'm sure the others will too.

Thinking of you today,I'm sure it is a difficult day.But this will for sure work for Buddy. Keep us posted on updates~
Big Hugs!

Such a hard decision to make. I'm sure today is going to be pretty rough. Just want you to know that we're thinking about you. Hugs!

We are thinking of you as well. I know it's a tough decision because he doesn't understand, but in the long run he will be a better adjusted, happier little guy because of you. You were unselfish when you realized that he needed more than you could give to live a contented life.

It is nice to know that the rescue will keep you up to date on his progress--so you can know that he is well cared for.

I'm sorry that you had to come to this decision; but it was the best choice given all of the variables (children, other dog, etc).

Don't be surprised to feel relieved and upset at the same time. Doing the right thing is not always an easy or comfortable path. But you gave your best efforts towards rehabbing Buddy; and continuing may have put a child in danger. You are doing the right thing for all involved and giving Buddy a new chance.
