Isc jww

Actually he wouldn't. AKC ISC rules for jump heights basically say

Small dogs measuring 13 3/4" and under jump 14"
Medium dogs measuring 16 7/8" and under jump 18"
Large dogs measuring 16 7/8" and up jump 26"

Koji falls into "large" dog since he's so dang tall at 17.75". Unless there is a "preferred" group within ISC which I didn't see.

I'd be hesitant to put Edan on an ISC course, as fun as it looks, because he's 14 1/2 and would need to jump 18 inches. Sure, I've seen him jump 20 inch bars in practice when we've accidentally missed dropping one down but I'm not sure I'd want him doing 18 inches for 20 obstacles. Then there's the broad jump which, for at 18 inches I believe would be set to 36 inches (2 times the jump height?). He already struggles with the triple and the broad jump at 16 inches. (He can clear a triple with effort but if the approach is not straight on he'll knock a bar; it's not something he can slice because of the width.)

I do need to sit down and finish looking at how I'd handle this course.

Kai jumps 18" in ISC because she is right on 14". She normally jumps 12". She had no trouble last year when I ran her in ISC. If she hadn't popped a weave pole, she'd have won. She had the fastest time out of all in 18", despite her being the smallest dog.

I'm not sure if noticed, but 3/4 and 10/11 are a threadle.

I missed 3-4 threadle. Oops. Actually, I think it'd make 3-4-5 that much easier for me. I'd just do a Derrett threadle arm. Which means, as Koji is on my left, I send him over 3, when I pass the open area between 3 and 4, I stop for a second, put my right arm up to cue him to come between, as soon as he does, I push him over 4 (treat it like a serp with a threadle) and off to 5. Which makes the entry to 5 that much easier.

I really do think I'd fail at 10-11-12. I thought more about it last night. With how far the obstacles are, I wouldn't get the backing up in. I'd be too slow.

The only other way I can see myself handling this is doing a FC on the landing side of 10 after I show him to go around. Do a tight post turn to get him in between the two jumps. Do a RC on the flat and TRY to get in front of him on the landing side of 11 to do a FC to get him to 12 and skip 7. MAYBE that might work. LOL.

Yup, I still think I'd fail right there.

Oh wow. That's a big difference. I give her and you credit for jumping her at 18". Seems so high! My issue would be jumping Koji at 10" higher than his normal. I mean 22" in USDAA is doable (but probably not good for his body over the long term), but 26"? I wonder how they decided on that. Seems crazy. I mean, I'm sure he could do it if I trained it, but damn. Can we say hard on the body?

You probably wouldn't like the threadle arm on the actual course :x Everyone whoI saw who tried it NQd. The 4 jump was just set back far enough that most people had a hard time getting their dogs to come back far enough to get it.

So the jump is pushed back further, meaning closer to you, so the dog would have to do a major slice? Hmmm....

In that case, maybe lead out pass 2 towards 3, but not too far, when he commits to 2, take off so I can do a FC btwn 3 and 4 (maybe closer to 4) and then do (I would need to do this physically) 180 basically to grab 4, RC to get 5. Not sure if that'd work, but it's an alternative if I saw all the people failing the threadle arm bit.

BTW, how CUTE is Athena with the pink BIG ribbon that's almost as big as she is...well, maybe bigger. :) Love it!!! Congrats again!
