It’s been awhile…

Piper's mom

I’m sorry I haven’t been around much…sometimes life gets in the way! The dogs are all doing their normal dog stuff lol…Finnie had his check up at the vet 2 weeks ago, he passed with flying colours although the vet did have one concern…she thought he was too skinny!🤣
I told her ‘don’t be telling a Sheltie they’re too skinny…’ lol…his weight was down 1 kg from his visit in January but it has fluctuated previously, and the January weight was from winter, they do tend to get a bit heavier in winter. He just looks good, he definitely doesn’t look like an 8 year old boy! Oh and his weight is 27 pounds…for a 16” Shelties I’d say that’s perfect.

Piper has reached his 2 year anniversary and I didn’t even notice…he’s amazing, still a bossy, opinionated little guy. He’s come out of his shell since my mom passed, I don’t know if it’s the thyroid meds or he’s just gotten over his blues but he’s back to his normal self. When I watch tv he’s there with me on the couch…it’s a 3 seater and if I don’t grab my spot quickly there won’t be room for me lol.

Blueberry is Blueberry…she has gotten closer to me but she hasn’t really changed. She still attacks Finnie periodically although it literally has no effect on him whatsoever. Like water off a ducks back he just keeps on doing whatever he was doing!

Things are slowly getting better for me, my back is slowly getting better unfortunately my physiotherapist has been on holidays and won’t be back until next week. So frustrating but at least I can sleep in my own bed now (the first couple weeks I was sleeping on the couch) and I can sleep almost all night long now (prior I was awake after 4 hours when the pain got bad) although I still have sciatica down my leg.
I did come to a decision…I’m not going to kill myself in an attempt to get the entire house organized (that’s how I injured my back). I have got nothing but time!
We had the garage sale 2 weeks ago, I’ve finally got my car in the garage for the first time since May (my road was closed for repairs for 3 months and I lost access to my driveway) and I’ll have all Winter to get things organized! And my trip is in 3 months!
My brother in law has been invaluable in helping me with everything since my injury…initially I had a hard time walking and he was my shopper and would do whatever I asked of him.

My cousin whom I’d lost contact with until March of this year has been there for me since my mom passed. We’ve always gotten along but have grown so much closer…it’s so nice to have someone who will just listen. My brother in law I’d good but it’s just not the same.
And I’m speaking to my sister Darlene still…we have something in common, we both hate Donna!🤣 But in all seriousness Donna is out of my life. Those of you who know me know what hell she put me through. 2 months ago I emailed her and basically told her I’d have no further contact with her and I then blocked her on everything. Life is good there…she no longer occupies a place in my head.

I managed to give Finnie a bath last week…I don’t know what he rolled in but phew he stunk! I basically sat on the edge of the tub and bathed him, had the blower in the bathroom so we did everything there. I wouldn’t have been able to pick him up to put him on the grooming table!
Piper and Blueberry are next…they haven’t had a bath for almost a year so they are overdue!

Here’s some photos of the dogs…
The one with Finnie on the couch was taken yesterday…first time he’s ever jumped on the couch before I was even in the room🤣…I walked in to see him all set and ready to watch tv lol.

Gosh I didn't realize you'd hurt your back. I'm sorry to hear it but glad you are improving. Yes PT can work wonders. The dogs are looking great, that's quite a pile of hair!
I am feeling overwhelmed by all the things I now need to do to maintain house, yard, dogs and work on the estate. So I know what you are going through.

Glad to see you back, Lisa, and even better to hear you're recovering. It sure takes time to reorganize a house and not a good idea to do it in a week or two! Looks like the pups have adjusted well and they're being good housemates. Take care of yourself!

It can be quite overwhelming Sharon…all I can suggest is do what you have to do and don’t worry about the rest…you truly have nothing but time. Things around the house can wait until you’re ready.
I made the mistake of rushing headlong into everything…I was painting and patching and getting stuff ready for a garage sale…why I don’t know. In a sense I’m glad I did it but none of it HAD to be done then. I just couldn’t stop…perhaps it was my way of mourning my mom, or just avoiding the voices in my head.

Try to do what makes you happy even if it’s just walking the dogs. Take the time for yourself once in a while too, and if you need help or someone to talk to there are some grief share groups that do offer support (usually held in a church).
If you ever need anyone to talk to I’m always available.

Glad things are on the mend and what a support group you have -- that's so great. I love the ball of fur picture- another whole sheltie there. Ours are just starting the Fall blow and we about to get a bag to keep it for next springs bird and squirrel nests... Shelties are 80% fur I swear.
