The top number of replies to a post and the top number of views of a post.

It would certainly give any indication as to where the true interest is on the forum.

Side bar note:

That being said, I've also noticed some threads with high replies that when you start reading them through are like almost personal blogs...the thread goes on and on instead of introducing a new topic in a new thread. I'm interested in forum feedback on this. I was glancing at threads with over 100 replies and the topic meandered all over the place.

My personal opinion is that it makes it difficult to follow and to future search previous questions and answers and therefore I think it preferable to TRY to keep to one topic (allowing for some little side-bars, of course) and open a new one even if its for the same pup.

The moderators are always splitting threads and starting new ones when topics change. We work very hard to keep the threads on topic.

If you see a thread that has gone off topic, please send one of us a pm. Don't mention it in the thread that it has gone off topic because this will make the person who went off topic feel bad and they will either get offended or stop posting. Please just send one of us a quick pm so we can check it out.

We try our best to make sure that the threads stay on topic, but sometimes it is just really hard for us to stay on top of everything.

there is on the side that tells you how many views a particular post has..and also gives the reply so you can scroll as see both right next to each other...


As far as posts staying on topic...ahhh its the way of life. There isnt one topic/discussion both online and in life where ive seen it stay on its original course!!! Everyone starts out talking about one thing and somehow it meanders off to another topic! Personally no big deal, its just life!:smile2:
 
In regards to seeing the number of replies and views, you can see that.

When you click on a forum topic and you see the threads under the topic one of the columns is marked "views" another one is "replies."

If you click on the word views it will sort by the number of views. If you hit the topic replies, it will sort by replies.

Is that what you are talking about?

When you do an advanced search, you can sort it by top number of responses, views, etc. So, I did a quick search with the word Sheltie in it

This popped up for most number of replies: http://sheltieforums.com/search.php?searchid=746086
Angus's Missing thread has the most replies.

For most viewed: http://sheltieforums.com/search.php?searchid=746090
Same top replied ones.

Now, granted, if you change the search word, something else may come up, but I felt "sheltie" was the most common word we use.
