It's a freaking zoo here!

My brother sent me these. His buddy capture this seen on camera as he was driving home from work. He was about 20 yards from the road a couple miles from his house in the Black Hills of SD.. I wouldn't want to meet this guy walking around my backyard. The lion had just down an elk and was having dinner.

OMG - the lion is huge! I wouldnt be going out in my backyard if I had those things around! Do they get into yards and eat pets too?

They will occasionally come into town. They prefer deer but if they are really hungery will go for pets and livestocK. My uncle lives on the edge on town in Rapid City and one night he heard a thud on the roof and went outside to see what it was and a mt lion was standing on the roof. He went back inside and my aunt him what it was. He told her you don't want to know but we should stay inside for a while.:eek2:

My parents live alittle further in town(about 1 mile) and had one in their neighborhood for a year. They saw the tracks in the backyard but never the cat. The deer disappeared for the entire time. The DNR ended up capturing it after they discover in was living in a cave near a local park(another half mile into town). As soon as the cat was gone, the deer came back.

I have another set of photos were a mt lion was looking in the patio door but can't find them.

:lol::lol: I love it!!

Don't worry, Caro! Just ask him if you can borrow one of his longhorns to put in your yard. It will scare the kangaroos AND the lions away. :lol:

Might even whip some of your hateful neighbors into shape as well! :lol:

Note:
(I am joking - they don't really scare away lions!)

It seems we now have part of the zoo here. We have a rabbit that has been around for a few years. Noah hated it. It drove him crazy and all he would do was part.

Now, sweet little Emma, who doesn't like to be outside by herself, doesn't like anything in her yard, has discovered it. The first few times she barked at it. Tonight, she has decided it is her best friend and stopped barking at it. Every time she went outside into her part of the yard, she looking for it. It just sat there at first all hunched down so it couldn't be seen. By the end of the evening, it was sitting there eating, grooming its hind foot (had it stuck up in the air for goodness' sake), etc. It has no fear of Emma. Dad even chased it away and it STILL came back. Emma had to go outside and when she saw where it was, she sat and then laid down at the fence to watch it. It was about 15 feet or so away from her. I think she would welcome it into her yard and make it her best buddy. I'm afraid we can't chase it away any more without highly offending her.
