whatever you do with the retrieve... don't be like me!!
Toffee had a perfect retrieve when he was a puppy, and hell if I know how it totally eroded (my fault no doubts... )
He had me actually trained for when he would bring the ball within 5 feet, I would walk toward it to kick it for him...
Operant conditioning works, IN REVERSE too.. he says!!!
Then when I was on crutches I was like, holy crap he won't bring the ball into my hands, hahhahahaha
I had to retrain the whole thing with tripe in my hands *ewww* and a clicker
