Heidi was a rescue and she was part Sheltie/ Spitz mix.would hope it was accidental.but she was more sheltie than Spitz.Heidi got really sick.she wasn't flagging her tail and her head was hanging low.she was very fatigued.i took her to several vets because none could find anything wrong. Heidi began to sleep most of the time. So I tripled up a blanket and held her in my lap and talked to her even though I wasn't sure she was hearing me. At one point she even wet the blanket with out ever waking up. She survived!!! Suddenly vets began to ask us to bring in dogs for new illness called Parvo. I was pretty sure by then that is what she had survived. But I got her vaccinated anyway. I guess what I am saying is trust your instincts when your baby gets sick.

You are so right...we know our dogs best and should always trust our instincts when we feel something is wrong. How wonderful that Heidi survived her illness and I hope she had many happy years with you.

Trini she did.but later I was the one who located her kidney stone. The vet didn't palpate the uninary tracts and it was right there a little bump on her belly
So again know your furbabys normal body. If you feel something odd please take them to a trusted vet ASAP

So true. Luckily my vets know this about me and trust what I tell them. Being a nurse made me very aware of small changes in behavior. I observe everything so I know if they are off at all.
You are a super Mom. All my studies and life's work were in healthcare professions. So it's so important we look them over.know their normal body and behavior and if there's a change take them to the vet!!!
