Unless your dog is the type to smack around their dish, I say, just buy human food dishes (Miko got a white Corelle dish for his food - I needed light and microwaveable).

I've had the same stainless steel bowls since I started out in dogs. In fact, my large water dish is actually a dutch oven that I bought from a fellow that used to run a booth at the shows. They had problems with the handles so he bought them up and sold them for $5. I had been thinking of buying new ones - just because - but I think I will just keep using them. They get hand washed daily and go into the dishwasher weekly for sanitizing. Since most of my dogs live to their mid teens I guess they are safe enough.
