Kennel name and agility?

Bare Cove has 22 dogs with agility titles. I couldn't care less about conformation.

I want both. I want a dog who has correct conformation, so that his body can hold up to the stresses of doing agility on a regular basis. I wouldn't take one without the other.

P.S. - For the Canadians - www.canuckdogs.com has a lot of good information, but it's also limited to CKC only, and agility isn't included. But it shows scores in conformation, rally, and obedience. Hopefully they start showing agility soon.

CKC does publish Agility stats on a yearly basis...just doesn't keep track of them on an ongoing basis through Canuck Dogs yet. Though not to hopeful for those of us that don't play CKC ;) They only look at Excellent B level runs as well.

I see eight from the breeder mine came from but I am not sure if Blizzard is on there - she is off to Spain in May with the Canadian agility team.

:smile2: ....no Ms.Blizzard and I haven't had the chance to go play AKC yet (though she is AKC registered)....maybe this year!

Oh I agree. That's not what I meant. My point was just that the thread I stated was because I was looking up my dog's kennel name and the agility titles associated with them. Of course I want a dog that has agility skills plus good structure.

Rush, or Bare Cove itself means absolutely nothing to me. I don't have stars in my eyes when I watch him or any other dog for that matter(with the exception of mine of course :biggrin2:). And just because one dog is great doesn't mean anything coming from that dog is going to be fantastic as well.

There are never any guarantees but there are some dogs who more consistantly produce dogs with the traits we desire for agility. In horses there are world champion mares who nevwr produce anything worthwhile... But then there are mares who wind up becoming broodmare hall of fame mares because they consistantly produce exceptional foals. There are also studs who are known for producing certain things. El Cortez small but game and with nice natural motion. Sultan bred horses tended to think well. Champagne Fizz produced a lot of gaited horses with a lot of chrome. Designed tends toward walk trots with long elegant necks. There are many known for producing good minds, some game, some hot, some produced hard horses, and some have produced crazies regulalrly. None throw it all of the tine but a large amoubt of time they throw certain things. Same for dogs. Some produce certain things more readily than others

Neat website.

Seven pages of dogs from our breeder. Twenty of those dogs had MACH's or higher. I think the highest I saw was a MACH10.

Lots of OTCH dogs on there too.

I agree. Granted, I've never seen them in person, just the odd video here or there - some nice runs, but nothing extra-ordinary or impressive to wow me.

You have to consider agility is a team sport - everything isn't and shouldn't be attributed to just the dog or just the handler: putting together a great dog & a great handler at random doesn't guarantee a great team.

I've seen some unbelievably great runs from teams that have never sought out or afforded the limelight of being considered at the top of our sport.
