Last minute weave help

Lexi has her first trial this weekend *squeals!* but I'm getting a bit nervous. She definitely has a lot of things that need work.

One thing that I want to try to work on in the next couple days (and after the trial too!) are her weaves.

Right now her biggest issue is that she pops at the 10th pole. But, it's not your typical pop (Bentley used to pop there). She does it only because she sees the upcoming obstacle and wants to get there faster. She pops and just runs past the couple poles to get to the next obstacle. I always stop her and start her over, but she can get stuck in this cycle of not doing the last couple over and over again.

Any suggestions? Any drills I can use to make her finish?

Thanks!

Weaves

I posted a weave pole game on here that Lo Baker taught us at her seminar .You can try that or if you have guides put one where she is popping.

Just tell her no dessert until she finishes her weaves. No? Sorry, no advice here, but cant wait to hear all about her debut. Good or bad, it doesn't matter.

Maybe run her through a bunch of short Jump Jump Weave Pole sequences with no obstical after the weaves for a dozen or more runs, then if she's not popping out, add a single obstical back in after the weaves and see how she handle's it. If she is still good then try putting her Favorite obstical right after the weaves and see what happens, If she starts popping out to get to it then go back to step one. Rinse & repeat several times :smile2:

That's how I would approach it, being a beginner handler it might not be the best approach, but my trainer is always telling me if I am having a problem to break it down into small sequences and attack it that way.
