leash training

I know....everything goes into Zak's mouth and watch out for earrings and slippers!!! I don't wear earrings since he almost swallowed two of them already. Slippers he will track down and is so proud when he runs through the house with them. Ahhh puppies.
He does chase after Maggie tail and when Katie was a puppy she grabbed so much of Maggies tail it was almost gone. LOL
I have done the same with with treat for Zak outside but he is getting smarter and does not always work. We have started using the flexi leash and that has helped alot, just tried it yesterday.
 
You could put some bitter spray on the leash, or even soak it in a bit of vinegar so the smell puts him off (not too much, dont want him to hate the lead).

The good news is most pups do grow out of chewing, the bad news is some dogs dont! Deska still chews his leash when he is excited, I tried everything - even our trainer at the RSPCA couldnt fix it permenantly. Best suggestion is to take something to redirect his mouth. I use a stick for D nowadays, but for a pup I would just get a piece of thin cotton rope from the hardware store (about a metre/3ft) tie a knot in either end and get him to redirect his mouth onto that when you are walking. You could drag it on the ground and get him to chase it when you are walking so he moves along.
