leather dog collars

Little late here. I have always bought our leather collars from:

I think the prices are great. Buckles and such are all brass, and you also receive a name plate on the collar for free in brass, that they put on for you. I have the rolled leather collars.

Its really for big dogs, but I give the size needed and they make a collar up for me. This company has been in business a long time, very credible. The original owner is still involved. Really great people to deal with. Quality is above par.
 
I have a Mendota rolled leather collar for alfie, it's very well made but it's still heavier than his kangaroo braided collar and dents the fur. If you really want the collar to stay on 24/7"and not leave any mark on his collar I would still go for a custom made roo leather martingale.

these are so inexpensive! and made in canada<3
 
Ummm, if you are just getting the collar then its not too bad. I think mine was around 40USD. But it's a double strand, single strands will be cheaper.

I would just go for the collar first, as young dogs often pull too much to use these leashes. I don't use mine much at all :p maybe when alfie older we can actually use it for walks.

These prices are awesome! I am so disappointed in Leashes by Design, especially as Bacca needs a new collar. Amazingly enough, his neck got longer and skinnier and now he can easily slip his collar...which is exactly AGAINST the point of a martingale.

I'm going to check this out further.

These are gorgeous, but not my first choice for Shelties. For Shelties, I really do prefer a rolled collar and even better a martingale.

But I love these collars and would love to bring them into my store! Thanks so much for sharing!
 
Great inside stitch collar

Even better than a rolled collar is an inside stitch round collar. Its super comfortable for your pet and will never mat the dogs hair- Which I had issues with before. They are extremely soft feel and look great.
 
I bought an expensive rolled leather martingale to use when I take my dogs somewhere since they don't wear collars in the house. It was a dreadful waste of money! The martingale has no stop on it so as soon as you let up on the pressure the collar loosens and out comes the dog. Never again!

I have some martingales leashes that have stops which are much better and safer and cost one-quarter of the price.
 
I was able to get new collars from LBD just a month or so ago.

I know she doesn't take on a lot of new clients, but she did do new collars for me. Maybe if you ask her REALLY nice and tell her where you got the recommendation from....?

They really are wonderful collars and perfect for Shelties. Very narrow, light weight, no matting. Fitting is a trick, and they do stretch if they get wet. So be careful in your sizing. In my second order, I ordered down 1/2 inch knowing they would stretch. Too big, and yes they will slip right over the head. Sized right, they are perfect.
