leaving puppies together

At what age can I leave my 2 Shelties together. My male is 15 months and my female is almost 6 months. He roams around freely and she is still in her crate. They love playing together, but I am afraid to leave them just in case they get into a disagrement. Some times they play rough.

I kept my boys separated during the day until they each about 16 months old (they are both the same age). After that, they both were kept penned into the kitchen/family area (no free-roaming, but together).

My boys play rough all the time, but when one of them says "enough" then its done. Only you can gauge how seriously rough the play is. If they quit it on their own without your interference, then I would say that in a few more months, they can be left together.

6 months is still a little young for a pup to roam about freely. You are in the teething stage. And nothing is sacred! Beware your slippers and your favourite pair of underwear! And of course, electrical cords, and anything else disastrous the pup might find enticing to chew.

There's really no set time to start leaving your pup out. It totally depends on the dog. My male we have been leaving out since he turned one. We tried that with my female, and she ate holes in the walls :eek2:

I don't think it's necessarily a question of when you can leave them out together, but when the youngest one is ready to be left out.

My best suggestion is if you think she is ready, to just leave them out when you to the store, or to get gas. Start with short periods of time as tests to see how it goes.

I think that will depend on your comfort level. I am a nervous person, and tend to go on the "safe" side. Chloe is 2 1/2 and Dandie is 1 1/2. I still crate them when I leave. I figure that is the safest spot for them. They can't get into any trouble in their crates. Also, I am fearful that if there is a fire, they would hide. If they are in their crates, they could just easily be carried out. That is just the overprotective side of me coming out.

Funny I am the same way. I am a nervous person too, always thinking about what is the worse thing that could happen. I have never left my boys off leash. Thinking what happens if they see a rabbit or deer and lots roam around the neighbourhood as well as busy cars.
I crate the younger one ,one year,in the office and the older, three years is left in the four season room. I dont trust Ryder, the younger one, not to chew on things. Especially wire:( Also they play rough!!! They rarely fight. I also leave the boys kongs with food when I leave. Which makes them very happy about my leaving. I still have not figured out how to leave them food together unsupervised:(
