Lily will be 6 months old tomorrow and today she went to work with me for the first time. The drive to work takes about 45 min and Lily was sick twice on the ride in. When we arrived she pulled out of her harness and started to bolt toward the busy street. Thank heavens there was another lady in the parking lot that helped me catch her. I really was thrown into a dither and lost my composure which didn't help the situation. Once inside the office she was loved on by everyone. Our office is full of animal loving people and we are welcome to bring our pets to work. Lily was scared of every little noise. Just showed me how important it is to socialize our babies. By the end of the day she was comfortable walking around with me and would actually walk up to people for loves and pets. When we left for the day I put Lily on the back seat along with my purse and keys, picked up the towels I was going to place on the front seat for her to lay on, closed the car door and realized the doors locked! Dog, keys, and cell phone inside, ME outside! Poor Lily! She looked at me with a really frightened look on her face. I had to go back into the office and call AAA and then wait for the locksmith to come and let me in.
We are home now and Lily is sound asleep after her adventures. Note to self, get a hide-a-key and work on socialization skills.

I do agree one thing to do is to expose her to car rides (unless you already do and she just gets car sick a lot). Luckily Ruutu has always been an excellent traveler for me as we travel 8 hrs one way to go to PA (which is also where I got him from) and an hour one way for dog classes once a week.
