When Beau got up yesterday morning, he was fine, we got up got dressed(rather I got dressed) and we came downstairs thru our hallway to go outside. unfortunately, my upstairs neighbor (i'm trying to show restraint here by not name calling) left trash in the hallway that Beau and I could not avoid. We had to walk thru the trash (It looked mostly like it was cornmeal) but, after have to walk through the mess at least three times before it was picked up he started limping. I checked his paws and I can't see anything. But, i'm guessing something that was mixed in the cornmeal is irritating his paw. The Vets office is closed because of the Holiday. On Tuesday, I'm taking him in for a groom, and I'm going to have her clean the paw pad out. But, come Tuesday morning, my property manager is going to get an earful.
 
Sorry for you and Beau...maybe rinse his paw pad off under running water and see if that helps. Don't think it was sawdust and he got a splinter do you ?

I don't know, I checked his paw and I had a neighbor who also owns a dog to check his paw, he didn't see anything, but, we did notice a round spot like maybe something got under a piece of skin or something.:mad:
 
How is he now? Just the other day, my close friend's boxer experienced limping too due to bug bite, he probably got it near the trash can when he accidentally get loose on the street. Good thing he's a good boy and wouldn't just run around.

I took Beau in for a groom, I was hoping that a good groom and clean out of his paw pads would do the trick. Unfortunately, he is still limping and licking his paw. I contacted our property manager, who was less than helpful and I wrote a complaint letter.
 
A friend of mine's sheltie got a splinter very deep in her paw. The first vet she took her to couldn't even see it. She went and saw a specialist who finally found it. Once removed, she was right as rain.
 
He is fine now. I think the grooming did the trick, But, I'm still angry because no one wants to take responsibility for leaving the crap out in the hall way.

I wrote a three page complaint letter. I shouldn't be asked whether or not I want to move when I'm not leaving trash in the common areas of the building for people to walk thru and possibly trip and fall. The real issue is that aside from pets, we have people who are physically handicapped and young children on the premises and people should take responsibility to clean up for themselves
