Lingering blowing coat.

2010-2011 so far is the longest my two furkids have blown their coats. Lady is now 5 and Lucky at 9 1/2 with two different types of coats, have been shedding, it seems like forever. I quess its the weather. I took another load of undercoat off them the other night. This has been a crazy 2010 with the weather around here. Looks like 2011 might be also.

Anyone else going through the shedding process longer then usual? Hopefully we are at the end.

Lots of threads on this already and recently...the answer is yes....

I was reading young dogs below. Lady is five and Lucky is 9 1/2, they have plenty of top coat left, just can't get rid of the undercoat. We are normally finished by the middle of November, not the first part of January.

I'm having a blonde moment....where do you live again? Are your weather patterns different this year?

I noticed that neither Indy or Bacca has put on as much undercoat this year, even though they are only 2.5 years old compared to last year when they were only 1.5 years old. Indy had more undercoat in the height of summer than he does now. But we've had a very mild winter so far.

I'm not sure how much climate plays a role, but I do believe it is a factor.

I'm in Ohio, the weather has been bizarre here. Rained all through the spring, never rained again until October, November it got cold, but we had warm days. I quess the middle of December it got cold, and we have had snow. I bought a brand new mower, used it 4 times. Twice to cut the lawn, twice to mulch the leaves.

I have taken a ton of undercoat out, and maybe just maybe the other day was the end. The carpets were being swept everyday, and sometime twice.
The only thing that might be thin on my two is their skin from brushing.

Our outfits we had on, never complete without sheltie hair.

Like I said they always were finished way before Christmas and New Years.
