How do I help my 9 week old pup overcome the linoleum floor fear. I need her to eat in kitchen and spend at least 1\2 of her day in the kitchen. Any suggestions?? I have sat down with her on the floor. I have stayed in there while she eats. She just hates it and whines and cries the entire time. We do have a crate in there where she will go in but that is the only time she seems content.

How about trying to feed her in her crate? She might feel 'safer' if you do so.
The very first sheltie I ever met had the same problem. He would not step on the hard wood floors. He was okay on the carpet, but would freak out if he had to walk across the wood floor. I'm not sure if he ever got over his fear. That was a long time ago and I'm not in touch with his owners any longer.

I agree with Starr try feeding her where she feels secure. She will eventually get more secure and venture out further. Shelties do have their little quirks sometimes, just like people !

My 2yr old has a fear of lino floors. He got this when staying at a boarding kennel that had lino floors - I think he may have slipped on it.
I was told the fear can stems from 2 things - either the slipperiness of the floor or the shine from the lino. I put some plastic over the lino (just some cheap plastic you can buy by the metre for table cloths) and this took both the slipperiness and the shine away.
Is your lino well polished and can you take some shine off? Or do as Crystal suggested and put something over it.
Don't force the pup to walk on it - if it is going through a fear stage you could make things worse.
PS - my boy has also noticed that vets have lino floors - he hatesthe vet. I take some plastic with me to put on the floor at the vets.

What about a couple of small area rugs? My dogs were reluctant to walk on the laminate floor when I got it, but the area rugs helped a lot
