I was just about to post! I'll call Nancy this morning!
Here's what FB says:
A neighbor called this a.m. said she was chasing a deer in the back yard. The neighbor had a border collie that tracked animals so they took out that dog and NAOMI was under the porch and making friends with the "SMART" border collie!
Okay, just talked to Nancy. Here's the amazing story!
The husband sat out all last night in the neighborhood where she had been seen. He met a lady there who owned a border collie who I guess was a herding dog--I'm not sure. Anyways, at 7 am Nancy got a call about a dog that was seen chasing a deer. Nancy said, "Are you sure it wasn't a fox?" and the lady said, "No, it was a collie with the shortest legs I've ever seen"
So they went out there, with the neighbor with the border collie. The BC sort of herded Naomi under a porch. The husband went up to the porch and called her...and SHE CAME RIGHT TO HIM!
Apparently she's doing well, just covered in burrs. I am going to stop by and see her because I can hardly believe it.
What an incredible story, it's most touching to see how everyone came together to help Nancy out and her short legged collie. So glad things ended well for everyone
I just went and saw her, and "Namie" as they are calling her, looks great. They said she was filthy, muddy and covered in burrs. They have since given her a bath, and she is headed to the vet this afternoon.
She looks a bit overwhelmed, and very tired, but other than that, no worse for wear.
I have assured Jim and Nancy that when things settle down, we will bring our pups over for a play date! It might help bring Namie out of her shell.
