What exactly are the symptoms? Someone I know has been having problems with a Irish Wolfhound pup, I believe a liver shunt was at one time suspected and then ruled out. The vet was stumped for months until she went to a specialist.
One of the main symptoms was blood in the urine and a need to urinate every minute when the condition was at its worst.
Also a bloated stomach, but the puppy itself seemed quite happy.
This may have nothing to do with your pup's condition as the disease is apparently quite rare - but a liver shunt was initially suspected which is what made me think of your pup.
I take it the symptoms are intermittant? And for the most part pup is fine? Hope you get it sorted. It took a biopsy, several blood tests, x-rays and a trip to a specialist to figure out what was wrong with my friend's dog.
