Major Digestive Issues / Partial Obstruction

Hi,

Hannah is doing fantastic, and thanks for asking. I guess we had just brought her back home the last time I posted. During the days following the return home. she was very sluggish and still had infrequent occurences of vomitting and had not had a bowel movement in nearly a week. After about 3 days, she vomitted up quite a bit (about the size of a golf ball) toy stuffing and fabric. Some of the pieces were recent (new toy after spaying), and others were definitely old. The constipation was really worrying us, but after one dose of medicine to get her digestive tract back in motion, she really turned around and began to act like herself. The past two weeks have shown no resemblence of any problems, except for the visual reminder of the shaved spot on her leg where her iv was inserted. It seems that she had a combination of several things that all hit her at once after the spaying, but we so thankful she conquered it all. Thanks again for your kind comments and concern.

I am very happy to hear that Hannah is back on track!

And what a sweet picture, she's adorable!

My heavens! this is just the scariest story. I don't know much about all these symptoms, and these medications. But I do know I and have seen dogs with obstructions. And they dry heave alot, and any I have seen have not had bowel movements. And generally seem listless, and uncomfortable.

I am so hoping your vet can turn her around, sending lots of sheltie hougs to you,as I am sure this is tearing you apart knowing she is not well. Please keep us posted on how she is doing.

That's great news!!... Unbelievable that she vomitted up so much toy "junk" after such a long time! I guess stuffed toys are banned in your house now, huh? :wink2:

Thanks for the update!!
