Max's test results

I would question chronic pancreatitis. The sludge in the gallbladder could also be a factor.

What sort of symptoms again is it that your boy has?

Lethargic, doesn't get excited, play or wag his tail. Panting at times. Just lays around.
He is hypo thyroid, allergies, pancreatic attack nov, sludge in gall bladder. His vet isn't concerned about the sludge but his allergist is? No mucacele in gall bladder. He is overweight from cortisone for his allergies (working on that) he is a rescue so he didn't come with much info at age 2.5 now he is 5 yrs. we've come a long way but for me not far enuf!

Panting can be a sign of pain. My Hamish suffered from pancreatitis for over three years and that was one symptom. Poor guy, he has his share of problems. Wish you could see my vet - he is so great.

Thats what we thought about the panting, Our vet is on vacation but we are going to have a good talk when he gets back. If he starts panting again we will give him half a tramadol and see if it helps? Its so good to have some one to bounce things off. Its always in the back of my mind that he could die from another pancreatic attack!

I guess you've missed most of my post because i not only stated the problems but also what we have been doing.
Of course i know were not all vets on this post but we do all have shelties and it only takes one thought to help my Max Barb!

Sorry Lynnel if I have missed some of your posts. I've had a horrid three or four weeks with things and have not had a chance to read all posts. Hope your little one is feeling better soon. It is not easy dealing with a dog that can't explain where and why they hurt. I have been there with them more than I care to remember.

I'm sorry , i just am so frustrated I'm taking it out on everybody! Now he has a big round something in his ear. Off to the vet, will see any vet there since ours is away.

Would you tell me what the difference is between a vet and internal medicine specialist? Thank you :)

Vets can be 'generalists', like your family doctor, or get additional training in a specialty area, like internal medicine, or orthopedics, or dermatology, things like that. If you have an emergency vet practice in your area, you could contact them and they would probably know where the specialists are. I gathered from your posts that you are not near a large metro area, which is where most veterinary specialists would be located. You might also contact the closest College of Veterinary Medicine. They would have specialists on their teaching staff. I'm lucky--I live in a large metro area and there is a specialist group about four miles from me. I forget that not everyone has such easy access to a specialist. But, if your regular vet, who is most likely a generalist (but maybe not--ask), cannot figure out what's going on, you probably need to move a rung up the ladder and take your pup to someone who only deals with problems like yours. They will have a lot more experience with odd disorders, as that's all they see. My two cents:smile2:

Well, now max has a cyst in his ear so we took him to the docter and my vet was away so the other vet suggested what you had said. We are not in a remote area, fortuntely when you live in nj its nit big enough to be remote ! Lol it is just hubby being unemployed and house in forclosure that has stopped us from pursueing another $1000 bill with no results. Since my husband has made it so easy to read Max's life history i asked the vet to forward this to the internest and if she feels she can contribute a cause then we will go to her! Thank you for caring, it really helps when you have so many issues with my pup. I knew there would be issues with a rescue, but not this many and not without employment for so long!

Thank you so much i really am! I just want someone to find out what else is wrong. He deserves so much, he is so good. We love him so much our live revolves around My Max. :)
