Gensol's testing came back quickly (I mailed the swabs on Saturday, got the mail today. Fletcher is confirmed MDR1 -/-. It just confirms what the breeder already knew, the parents of my boy are negative. My rescue collie, however, is MDR1 +/-. Up to 70% of rough collies are. Since he is neutered, though, this is not that big of a deal. Just as a carrier, he could still react to large doses, so I need to let my vet know.

Good that you had the tests done. I have always had mine done ever since the test became available...so far everyone has been -/-. Collies are the hardest hit breed by far...but we were lucky...our rescue collie boy, Kinnon, came back -/-.

Swabbing Baker's tiny cheeks once he wakes from his after-supper nap...should be interesting.

Its worth knowing though. Deska is +/- and the reason I got him tested was his reaction after anaesthetics. He also reacts to ACP. Apparently this is common in dogs that are +/-, you don't need the full mutation to have a sensitivity to some drugs. So at least you know to warn the vet before and surgeries,
