Meet Lexi

Welcome!! Thanks for starting out with the beautiful pictures of Lexi. We have lots of forums on food, and we all have different opinions, so you will need to make your own decision on what food is best. In order to figure out how much food you should feed Lexi, you need to know how old she is, her current weight, and what kind of dog food you use. The information on the bag of dog food you bought well give you an idea, but usually shelties should eat less than what they recommend on the bag. Best way to tell if she's getting the right amount of food is to check that you can lightly feel her ribs, if you can feel the bones too easily then she is underfed. Another easy way to tell, after you have had her on the same food for about a week, check her stool. If it is firm that's good, if it is too loose then she is eating to much for her at this time, and if she has diarrhea then she is eating way too much food. Congratulations on your new furbaby.

Welcome to the forum and thank you for posting pictures right away...we LOVE pictures!

When you bought your pup did the breeder give you papers, date of birth, etc? The reason I ask is that Lexi does look older than 10 weeks old in the pictures....but that could be difference in line, camera angle, etc. Just curious. She really is pretty.

Well this is the deal. We stopped and bought her on the side of the road (total impulse)...I don't regret one bit!:smile2: The man said she was born on 2/16 and gave me some story as to why she doesn't have papers, he also didn't have records of her shots b/c he said he had given them to the pups. Whatever! Although my mother thought I should think twice b/c of all this, there was no way I was leaving w/o her. We haven't been able to go dog parks and meet friends b/c we are starting over w/ all our shots to be extra safe!

Hello and welcome! Lexi is beautiful. I can see how you fell in love with her! You and your fiance will love having a sheltie - they are great dogs!! (no bias here or anything)

Very Sweet!

Welcome to the forum. We just LOVE to share our thoughts and opinions, though we don't always agree! :smile2:

Search the forum on threads. We've have some recent conversations about dog food, how to feed, how often etc. There is also a great website to find out more on each brand.
