Meggie is being very stubborn

ANd once again I thought just MY dog was weird
Toffee also hates the wet grass, lol, makes a point of siding along where he won't have to touch the grass.. but MOSTLY in my yard.. other peoples yard is not a problem Probably mine gets mowed less.. my landlord isn't big on keeping the grass short, lol
I solve the problem by making sure I take him around the block at least once a day, rain or shine... He always goes potty when we go for a walk...

Nope, my parent's sheltie HATES getting his feet wet and goes to extremes to avoid going outside. When the weather is bad, he refuses to go to the bathroom. Put him out and he stays by the door. Bring him to his spot and he just lies down. He even eats and drinks less so he can hold it longer and its not uncommon for him to hold it for 17 hours! Some times I think he's not the smartest sheltie, but other times I swear he's a genius.

Thank you everyone for your input. I never would have believed so many others have the same issue with their dogs. Meggie and I have had a battle of the wills several nights in a row. I won't let her come in after the final potty break until she pees. Two more times I've turned out the lights and left her outside. Of course, I'm watching her the entire time, but she doesn't know that. When I go back out I tell her to peepee again. The first night it took longer, the second night not as long. The third night she went the first time out. I'm hoping we've turned a corner. No more Meggie accidents in the house, but OF COURSE, as soon as I say I think Cooper's finally got it, he pees in the house! Go figure!

I have been warned that for agility dog has to be trained to lay down on wet, smelly table and run course in any weather. Thankfully Che has been a blessing and had not had any problems since he was 9 weeks old in the house, he also will go out in the rain, snow or mud....
I do understand you about the crate as I have same guilty feelings about leaving Che in the crate but now I am intentionally trying to put him there to teach him better control. At performance events there is a need to put your pup in a crate so all you do is training your pup...

My Katie hated the wet grass and it was hard at times to get her to do her business in the rain....now Maggie she could care less and I have a hard time getting her in when it rains. Zak does not mind it as much either but will come in out of after doing his business. Night before last we had rain before our bedtime potty and I had to run out in the yard to get her to come back inside. Maggie being older has a little selective hearing.

Lucy welcomes puddles, she will go just about anywhere I tell her to.

Fiona, the diva, will not go on wet *gravel*! I have to go out with her and she pees and runs, pees and runs...it's better than the carpet and since it hardly rains here it isn't too much of a concern. It did take a lot of talking her into it, I swear this little girl understands most of what I say...
