Mia is in failing health

It has been quite sometime since I visited here. So much has happened on a personal level,of which I will not go into.
But I felt, since Mia's journey started here so long ago, with that one post, by a dear member, and how all of us were just amazed and taken by that photo and story of Mia,her brother, and how they ended up in rescue.
I felt the need to visit, and let everyone know that my princess is gravely ill.
She has been diagnosed with advanced central vestibular disease.
Over the last few months,Mia has suffered a great loss in her life,as the spouse and I have separated. And as all of you know, they had a solid, and amazing bond.
Mia grieved terrible over his absence, and As much and as hard as I tried, there was no way to comfort her.
I really thought her world would be lifted upright in time,as his scent would eventually dissipate. And at time,I thought we turned a corner with her.
Unfortunately,I was wrong.
Within the last month,I have been seeing behavior issues with Mia.
She has bitten me now 3x. She gas on numerous occasions tried biting Trapp & Jasper. Tonight she connected with Jasper, and he snapped back.
Her hair has changed dramatically, she now circles constantly on one direction. It is not the excited Sheltie spin,it is a slow circling in one direction, and her head is tilted. Even one ear has tipped, which both ears were always erect..
She was vetted yesterday, with a battery of tests. My vets diagnosis is she has suffered a stroke, although just a slight one,but enough to raise red flags.
Tests for Lyme was negative. MRI showed tumor on left side of her brain, with swelling.
Her cognitive behavior has deteriorated to the point, she is having g problems getting room to room, and although deaf & blind, she never ever had issues before. But now is most times unable to get to front door to go potty. So she is carried, and watched carefully, and brought in after she is done.
She sleeps all day,and tucked into a corner of her bed,in the deepest corner of her xpen. This I'm told,is because she feels more secure, next to the wall.

As hard as it has been these last few months, I find it very hard to even type these words. Mia has made such an impact in the world of double Merle's,and the people all over the world, have embraced her lovingly.
And it started here, with a of you great folks.
Mia will be laid to her final rest,on Monday morning. It is with an extremely heavy heart that I even am typing these words. My heart is broken, I am loosing my princess, and oh so young she is.
I want to say thank you,to everyone. If it were not for the post about Mia in rescue, back in 2010, we would never have been blessed with her presence here.
I ask for prayers please,as it is my last few days with my girl.
Love

My heart aches for you and the decision you had to make. Nothing anyone can say will make it easier, but you gave Mia a loving home for many years and nothing will change what you did for her and how you love her. Our dogs are never here as long as we'd like, all we can do is appreciate every day we do have.

Oh Michele, I'm really sorry Mia is failing, I just want to cry hearing how she has gone down hill. She has been so lucky to have you in her life, you've been a wonderful advocate for Mia and for the issue of double merles. Finding Mia was truly a meeting of souls.

Give her a big hug from me, I'll be thinking of you over the weekend and as she takes her wings on Monday. I wish I could hug you through cyberspace.

Thank you Caro & Cindy. I promise to give an update as the weekend progresses. For this weekend, loads of love, and more love for my babe.

Michelle, I'm sorry to read this about Mia. Thank you for all the wonderful years you gave her, she had as full a life as possible.

I'm so very sorry to hear this, Michele. Mia has been blessed with a wonderful life with you, and has added much to yours as well. These are such hard journeys with our beloved dogs. I'll say a prayer for you on Monday, that you find strength, peace and warm memories. Sending you hugs.

Having just lost my own dear Bailey, I can sympathize with the pain and hurt this brings to your and your family. She has been a great blessing to you and others and now she has earned her rest. Prayers to you and your family as you make this last journey with her. Peace and God Bless to all of you.

Michele, we met on Sheltie Nation nearly ten years ago. I've visited your home, shared your struggles and triumphs. Here we shared the arrival of Trapp, Jasper and Mia. And we bid farewell to gentle Earnhardt and sweet Bumpers.

Mia was a gift from Heaven. She and her brother Duncan became Sheltie ambassadors for double merles. They showed that these special creatures can have loving and fulfilling lives. Though no responsible person would ever deliberately risk breeding Shelties with high odds of being blind, deaf or both, those that slip into the world deserve no less than the kind of love Mia had throughout her life.

Thank you for sharing Mia with the world through Sheltie Nation and Facebook. Her beauty and grace shone with a special light, and she will not be soon forgotten.

Michele, I am so sorry about Mia. Thank you for introducing me to your wonderful and beautiful little girl. Take care.
