Miko ate an Advil gel cap

I am so sorry you and Miko are going through this especially with all his stomach issues. Praying all will be well and no ulcers. That charcoal is going to be a mess with all that sheltie fur when it comes out.:eek2::eek2:

Luckily he's still in his coyote ugly adolescent stage and the fur on his rear isn't remotely long.... he's pooped 3x... all of the disgusting piles of BLACK mush... and not a drop on his fur  That'a boy!!!

To be truthful, I don't think I have ever seen it come out the back end. :eek2: Usually I have sent them home by then.

Coming up yes, all over me getting it in. It is horrible to get off then nevermind out of long fur after being processed.:dead:

So glad that Miko is ok. I use Ibuprophen all the time and had no idea it was so toxic to dogs. Thank you for talking about your ordeal on the forums, its very helpful for all of its members!

Probably better that his bowels are a bit loose or else he'd been painfully constipated from the sound of things.

How is Milo feeling today?

Well, he's not feeling all that great today. The meds he's taking can cause diarrhea... add that to the fact that he already had diarrhea... and you get a dog that is whining to go outside A LOT, but when he goes out nothing much happens. He still has is appetite though... so I always consider that a good sign.

Thanks for checking in on him. :smile2:

having loose stool after charcoal seems like a good sign to me since it is often given with laxative to speed up process of passage. at this point diarrhea is good.
Generally charcoal will not be effective past first few hours as it is only binds to toxins while they are in the stomach and part of small intestines, once toxins passed into the blood, charcoal is useless. Watch for renal output, i.e. how much urine and what color is coming, very important.
I can see Miko is trying real hard to stay on chicken and rice diet forever:wink2: It was very smart for you to do research and bring Miko for treatment. How is he behaviorally now?
I do not have small kids either so we are not as careful with meds and while we keep them inside top shelf cabinets I need to make sure everyone is aware as we have very creative countersurfer in the house. :(
