Miss Congeniality

Estella would not win a beauty contest at the moment. Her ears are not proportional and she is quite shaggy with a strip of wavy hair along the spine.

She is in the running for Miss Congeniality, however. She has not met another person, or dog, that she does not like. She lives to greet and if she is not able to greet another dog on a walk , she will strain the leash and whine. She also pulls toward strangers and small children.

My concern is that she is "a little much". Older dogs cannot take her enthusiasm. Should I start working on having her sit before greeting?

Those of you who have TDI certification, When did you start working on that. I think her temperament might make her a good therapy beast.

Sounds like you have a great therapy dog wanna be! Make sure she has the basic commands -- check out Canine Good Citizen requirements. That's step one!

She sounds like my Laddie. He LOVES everyone, almost more than he does me at times. I never thought of it being a good sign of maybe being a therapy dog, he would probably be loved by all, only problem, I don't think they are used in New Zealand, back home in the states, I would have it easy trying to do that. Hmmm, interesting.
