Moozles = fun for all

I went to buy Olive a few new bully sticks last week and the store was out (well, technically they had some, but a no-name generic mystery variety). So I looked through all the Merrick treats and picked out a pig ear and a moozle. I always wanted to get a pig ear but the ones I've seen have always been greasy, and the Merrick ear was not only absolutely plain but also a true sow's ear (huge).

The Moozle. I didn't think Olive would like it but I thought the idea of a cow snout on the floor was hilarious for some reason, so I bought it. When I brought it home, Olive was afraid of it. Then suddenly after a few days she "discovered" it. Now it's like her shadow. She keeps it near her and in the middle of the night I could hear her chewing away. Not too expensive, about $4, for a treat twice as big as my hand. Highly recommend the moozles. Next time I'm out I think I'm going to get one of the beef kneecaps from Merrick. It's like Olive finally realized it's more fun to chew this stuff and not my shoes (or the walls, furniture...).

Why oh why couldn't I have joined SN when the pups were TEETHING?!:lol: It would have saved my wood furniture big time! Oh well, at least they had the sense not to chew on the antiques (including the family rocker:uhoh:)

My dogs love moozles. Except I need to really monitor them or Diva ends up with them all. :smile2:

Sounds like F-kap! He'll have a pile of three raw hide bones by him and one in his mouth. The other dogs are just drooling.:rolleyes2:

I'm afraid of Moozles. They scare me :o my dogs however would probably love them. If only they didn't look so scary.

Awww. But it's just like a piece of raw hide... with... nostrils.:uhoh:

:lol::lol:

Our dogs eat Moozles weirdly fast, like within an hour! Well, Violet does, and she's such a fatty that she'll "help" the other dogs finish theirs if they take too long. (They always take too long, in her opinion.)

I never heard of Moozles either, must look into it. Ashamed to admit I haven't found any bully sticks yet for Chauncey either.

I haven't heard of moozles, but when I had my first 2 shelties, about 20 years ago - real pig ears that I bought at the grocery store left me with an expensive vet bill - it could however have been a lot worse, as we got lucky and no treatment other than some observation and bloodwork to rule out other issues was required.

They absolutely loved the things. Day after they got them we had bloody poop from both of them - took them to the vet. Basically they weren't chewing them fully enough and the sharp edges were causing small cuts on the way out. They weren't the first small dogs he'd seen with that problem and for some surgery was needed to repair the damage.

I reported the problem to our local grocery store ( small town) but they would not take them off the shelf - very popular item.
