Muzzles

I don't have any suggestions but I just wanted to say I know what it is like to have a Sheltie who outs everything in their mouth. Shelby did pick up a toad once, of course she spit it out and was foaming at the mouth shaking her head. Fortunately they are not poisioness here. After that incident she never put one in her mouth again. Now she just gives them the stink eye and stays away. DH had to carry her in the house one night b/c there was one sitting by the door and she would not come near it.

Her new thing is finding the slugs at night She doesn't eat the, just gives them a nudge with her nose. But she has had her share of rabbits, mice, and snakes.

Oh boy, I'm sure Skylar would love to chase a rabbit, mouse, or snake!!!!!!

No they are normal garden toads, they don't taste good, but they're not going to poison her. I looked them up when we first saw them in the gardens, and we always watch her when she finds one. (I don't want her to get over excited and hurt the toads, they're good helpers in my fight to grow vegetables!)
 
I have one who eats things off the ground. It also doesn't help that I live in a busy city, so there's food, scraps and garbage all over the place. There was a time when I walked her with a muzzle because it was safer for her, but she really didn't like it and it made walks stressful. I just basically have to keep my eyes on the ground. I cannot get distracted or look somewhere else for a second or she will grab something. Most days it is like walking through a mine field on the city streets. I have had to pry food out of her mouth several times. It is no fun and those teeth as sharp! But never has she tried to eat an animal like a mouse or frog. It is always food and napkins.
